Notes: The Arlington Heights Bicycle Club participates in a very special ride each year -- the International Ride of Silence. Arlington Heights is one of more than 300 cities that participate in this world wide event. The ride is held in remembrance and honor of those who have suffered injury or death while cycling. The ride is held on the third Wednesday of May each year, and leaves from Recreation Park in Arlington Heights starting at 7:00 p.m.

2018 Ride of Silence is May 16. Please arrive at Recreation Park in Arlington Heights at 6:30PM. Ride leaves promptly at 7PM for 10 miles. Everyone is invited to join us.

Oak Lawn

Notes: The Ride of Silence will take place on Wednesday May 16th from the Metra Station in Oak Lawn at 7pm.
There will be 2 groups this year:
Group 1 will travel to Palos Heights to 135th and Ridgeland and will meet at the Monument in Memory of Brian McDevitt.

Group 2 will travel to Burbank to 87th St and Latrobe and will meet at the Monument in Memory of Brian Schrader. This will be a much shorter, family friendly ride.

Oak Park

We will meet this year outside Wheel & Sprocket (1118 Westgate) for our annual Ride of Silence. Slow 10mph (or less depending on groups ability), no drop ride through Oak Park potentially venturing into Berwyn & Riverside. Helmets required. Lights encouraged.

Start gathering around 6:30, ride departs at 7. Will return to W&S after ~ hour long ride for optional post ride discussion.

Peoria

Notes: On Wednesday, May 16th, Peoria-area cyclists will meet at Tower Park in Peoria Heights. We will gather at 6:00 p.m. to prepare for the ride and have a moment of silence. The ride begins promptly at 7 o’clock following a welcome briefing and advocate statements.

Attention: This is an exciting new route compared to previous years that will feature smoother roads for riding and greater public visibility/awareness to the event! The route is just under 4 miles long and will be ridden at a pace of ~10mph with police escort. Helmets are required and participants are asked to follow the rules of the road and refrain from speaking during the ride. All ages are invited, as long as you can complete the ride.

Parking is available in the Tower Park/Village Hall lot or on street along Glen or Kingman.

Schedule:
6:00 - 6:50 p.m.: Meet-up and Ride Preparation
6:50 - 7:00 p.m.: Welcome Briefing and Advocate Statements
7:00 - 7:30 p.m.: Ride of Silence and Convocation

Participants are encouraged to visit Peoria Heights businesses on bicycle following ride.
